These terms cover the Smash mobile app and this website. Using either means you accept them.

Who can use Smash

You must be at least 13 years old to hold a Smash account. If you record matches or upload photos involving anyone under 18, you confirm you have their guardian's consent to do so.

Your account

You can sign in with an email address and password, with Google, or with Apple. You are responsible for what happens under your account and for the accuracy of what you enter. Do not share your sign-in.

You may use Smash without an account in guest mode. Guest data lives on your device only; it is not uploaded, it is not carried over if you later create an account, and we cannot recover it if you lose the device or uninstall the app. Guest ratings do not change.

Data about other people

Smash lets you create player records and match history about other people. You are responsible for having a reason to do so, for the accuracy of what you record, and for responding if that person asks you to correct or remove it. We will act on a direct request from that person where we can.

If you add an email address to a player record, the person who owns that email can claim the record from their own account. Their account name and photo then replace what you typed.

Sharing and public pages

Sharing a match, tournament, player or club publishes a copy of it at a public link that anyone holding the link can open without signing in. You decide what to share, and you are responsible for having the agreement of the people who appear on it. Deleting the shared item takes the page down.

If you attach a live stream to a match, it must be a public YouTube, Twitch or Facebook stream you have the right to show. The stream is played by that provider under its own terms.

The free app and ads

The free version of the app shows banner and interstitial ads from Google AdMob. Ads are personalised only where you have consented to it, as the privacy policy describes. Premium removes all ads.

Smash Premium

Premium removes ads, unlocks the full statistics page, removes the Smash watermark from share cards, and enables PDF score-sheet export.

There are four ways to buy it:

  • Monthly — renews every month.
  • 6 months — renews every six months.
  • Annual — renews every year.
  • Lifetime — one payment, never renews.

The price of each plan is shown in the app in your store's currency before you buy, and that shown price is the one you pay.

  • Every plan is billed through the Apple App Store or Google Play, never by us directly.
  • The monthly, 6-month and annual plans are subscriptions. Each one renews automatically at the end of its period until you cancel. Cancel any time from your store account — App Store: Subscriptions; Google Play: Payments & subscriptions. Cancelling stops the next renewal; the current period runs to its end.
  • The lifetime plan is a one-time purchase, not a subscription. Nothing renews and there is nothing to cancel.
  • Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription. Neither does deleting your account — cancel in the store first.
  • Premium is tied to your Smash account. If you reinstall or change phones, sign in and use Restore purchases on the Premium screen, on the same store account you bought with.
  • Prices may change. We will tell you before a change takes effect, and you can cancel before it does.
  • Refunds are handled by the store under the store's policy. We cannot issue them.

EU and UK withdrawal right. You normally have 14 days to withdraw from a digital purchase. Because Premium unlocks immediately, you agree that performance begins at once and you lose the withdrawal right once it does. Where the store gives you a stronger right, the store's rules win.

If a subscription lapses, your data stays. You keep access to everything you created; ads return and premium-only features stop.

Acceptable use

Do not use Smash to harass anyone, to publish someone else's data without a reason, to break its rate limits, or to reverse engineer, resell or rebrand the service. We may suspend an account that does.

Availability and accuracy

Smash implements the BWF scoring rules as we understand them, and the scoring engine is unit-tested against them. It is still a tool, not an official referee: for a sanctioned match, the umpire's decision governs, not the app's. Voice umpire mode depends on your phone's speech recognition and can mishear; every voice command can be undone.

Ratings are calculated by our servers from completed matches. Deleting a match does not rewind the ratings it already contributed to.

The app is currently available in English only.

The service is provided as-is. We do not promise uninterrupted availability, and we are not liable for lost matches, lost ratings, or any indirect loss. Our total liability is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including your statutory consumer rights.

Ending it

You can delete your account at any time from Profile → Delete account, or via the account deletion page. We may terminate an account that breaches these terms, with notice where it is practical to give it.

Changes and law

We may update these terms; the date at the top of this page is the version in force. Material changes are announced in the app before they take effect.

These terms are governed by the law of your country of residence where that law gives you rights you cannot waive; otherwise by the law of the place we operate from. Questions go to jathanscreatives@gmail.com.
